SMSimple privacy policy

Effective October 22, 2026

SMSimple is a free Android SMS/MMS app from Leadomator LLC. It has no account, no ads, and no paid features. This policy describes where your messages go.

What stays on your phone

Messages and attachments stay in Android’s shared message storage on this phone. SMSimple is the default SMS app so it can read and send that shared history. App-owned settings, filters, Trash recovery copies, drafts, and similar metadata stay in the app’s private storage on the phone.

Trash keeps a recovery copy in the app for 30 days before it is removed.

What it does not upload on its own

SMSimple does not upload message text to Leadomator. There is no analytics product that reads your conversations. An update check asks Google Play and the public SMSimple update page whether a newer version exists. That check does not include your messages.

Optional backup

If you export a backup, or turn on Google Drive backup, SMSimple writes a JSON file of the data you chose to include (filters, settings, messages, and/or attachments). That file is not encrypted with a password. Treat it like any private export: anyone who can open it can read what you included. Drive backups use Google’s private app-data folder for this app when you sign in. SMSimple does not upload the share-sheet export for you.

Optional linked computer

A computer can see messages only after you pair it on purpose (for example by opening smsimple.leadomator.com and confirming a short code or QR). Pairing uses encrypted transport between that browser session and your phone. You can revoke a linked device from the app. Screenshots or copies already made on that computer cannot be pulled back.

Permissions

SMSimple needs SMS/MMS and related phone permissions to be the default messaging app. Contacts permission is used for recipient suggestions when you allow it. Notification permission is used for message alerts. Optional features may ask for other Android permissions (for example exact alarms for Send later, or biometric unlock for app lock). Those stay off or unused until you turn them on.

What it does not do

SMSimple does not sell information, use it for advertising, or share message content with third parties for marketing. There is no Leadomator account inside the app.
