PromptBank privacy policy
PromptBank is a Chrome extension. It keeps prompts you want to reuse and inserts one into a text box when you ask. This policy describes what the extension does with information. It does not send your prompts to the developer or to any other server.
What it accesses
On ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Poe, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot, Grok, Meta AI, and NotebookLM, a content script looks for the message box so it can show a Prompts button and insert the prompt you choose. It reads that box only to place the text.
On any other page, it runs only after you use a shortcut, the right-click menu, or Insert from the side panel. Chrome then grants access to that tab for that action. It looks for the text box you are in, or for the text you have selected.
Save stores the selected text, or, when you use the save shortcut with nothing selected, the contents of a large message box. It does not read password fields, payment fields, or one-time-code fields. It does not read the rest of the page.
Chrome’s install dialog names the chat sites above, plus the permissions to store data, show a side panel, and act on the tab you invoke it from. The page address is used only inside the extension.
What it stores
Prompts are saved with chrome.storage.local on this browser: the name, the text, tags, whether it is starred, how often it was used, and when it was created or last used. The same storage holds two settings: whether the Prompts button is shown on chat boxes, and whether the introduction has been dismissed. A backup you export is a JSON file you download yourself. An import reads a JSON file you choose. Neither file is uploaded.
The extension does not use chrome.storage.sync. It has no account, no analytics, and no advertising. It does not contact a server run by the developer.
Why
The extension uses this information only to keep your prompts and to put the one you pick into the text box you are using. Blanks such as {{topic}} are filled in the browser, from what you type at that moment.
Control
Remove a prompt from its card, or from the editor, and it leaves this browser. Uninstalling the extension removes the saved prompts and settings. There is no account to delete and no copy held by the developer. Prompts stay until you remove them or uninstall.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
Use of this data follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The information is used only to save and insert your prompts, which is the extension’s single purpose. It is not used for advertising, credit, or lending, and no person reads it.
