Layouts support
Layouts is a menu-bar app for the Mac. It saves the position of your open windows and puts them back. Save once at each screen size, for example 5120×1440 and 2560×1440. When the resolution changes, Layouts restores the layout saved for that size.
Download
Until Layouts is on the Mac App Store, install the direct download from the Layouts download page. The disk image is signed and notarized by Leadomator LLC.
How to use it
- Right-click the Layouts icon in the menu bar and choose Save, or press Control-Option-Command-S.
- Left-click the icon to restore the layout for the current screen size, or press Control-Option-Command-R.
- Control-Option-Command-Z undoes the last restore.
Layouts does not show an icon in the Dock. It opens at login.
Accessibility
The first time you restore, macOS needs Layouts turned on under System Settings, Privacy & Security, Accessibility. You only do this once. If the switch is already on and Layouts still asks, quit Layouts and open it again.
