How to block multiple senders in Gmail at once
Gmail’s Block option only appears inside an open email, one sender at a time. When a wave of junk arrives from several addresses, that gets slow.
The built-in way
- Open Settings → See all settings → Filters and Blocked Addresses.
- Click Create a new filter and type the addresses into From, separated by
OR(for examplea@x.com OR b@y.com). - Click Create filter and choose Delete it.
This deletes their mail instead of blocking it, and you have to edit the filter every time a new address shows up.
The one-click way: Block Sender for Gmail
With Block Sender for Gmail, tick the emails in your inbox list and press the Block button that appears next to Report spam. It works on selected emails as well as on an open one, and uses Gmail’s real blocked list.
Add to Chrome, it’s free (opens the Chrome Web Store in a new tab)
Frequently asked questions
Is there a limit to how many senders Gmail can block?
Google does not publish a hard limit for blocked addresses. Most people never get near one.
What is the difference between blocking and a delete filter?
Blocking moves mail from that address to Spam and is listed under Blocked Addresses. A filter can delete, archive or label mail and is listed under Filters.
Can I block a whole domain in Gmail?
Gmail’s Block action works per address. For a whole domain, create a filter with @domain.com in From and choose Delete it.
